WHO WE ARE

St. Clair County ARES

The St. Clair County A.R.E.S. (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) is a group of dedicated volunteers who use their hobby (ham radio) and helps the county’s E.M.A office in times when usual means of communicating (telephone, internet, and other means) fail or are extremely overloaded. These volunteers use their own equipment in most cases and donate their time for the good of the citizens of St. Clair County.

These volunteers are often trained by the national weather service, F.E.M.A. and other agencies.

The St. Clair ARES team meets once per month at the St. Clair Co. E.O.C. on the first Monday each month at 6:30 pm, once per quarter this meeting is changed to 7pm at the heritage Baptist church (located @hwy 174 and Us 231 in Pell city) and everyone brings a dish and the group enjoys a time of food and fellowship and then discusses ARES business.

The group has an EMA sponsored repeater on 145.130 Mhz , it has a negative offset and a PL tone of 103.5 and is located atop bald rock mountain .We have a weekly roll call or network of hams (net for short) every Tuesday at 8 pm.

------------------------Latest News------------------------------

Currently the group has been moving our equipment back into our new cubical at the E.O.C. A renovation of the EMA Office and EOC has just been completed.

Soon it will be severe weather season and sometime around March the EMA will schedule a storm spotter training class for ARES and all other first responders. We also have recently received a new repeater with onboard controller.
